William Melvin Dicke

Aug 11, 1923 - Apr 1, 2016

8-11-1923 to 04-01-2016 Bill peacefully passed into heaven in Roseville, CA in the loving arms of his children and the presence of loved ones. He lived a full and active life with courage, humor, integrity and a remarkable devotion to family. He served in the USA for 20 years and worked with CALTRANS for another 20 years. Bill met and married his beloved Carolyn in 1946, after a 6 week courtship. Together they remained a military family raising three children and ultimately settled in Roseville, CA. Tragically Carolyn preceded Bill in death. With the love of his children, and devotion of his three heaven sent caregivers, Cindy, Carol and Mary Jo, Bill’s life was extended with a “spring in his step and a sparkle in his eyes.” Bill lived on enjoying and appreciating every day. His endless stories of his travels and life experiences fascinated and amused those around him. He will be deeply missed by his three children, Marilyn (Ed), Bill (Sandy) and Sharon, six grandchildren: Angela (Steven), Wendy (fiancé Austin), Lisa (Don), Heather, Michael and Suzanne (Janon) and six great-grandchildren: Mason, Easton, baby boy Jacob due in July, Becca, Garrett, Tyler and Ethan, and his nephew Tom and his family.
Our heartfelt “thank you” to the staff and Hospice nurses on the Oncology Unit at Sutter Health, Roseville. No words can express our deep appreciation for each one of you for your kindness and care of our father. Funeral services will be at East Lawn Sierra Hills Memorial Park at 10AM on April 7, 2016. 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA.
