Wilbur Harold Dixon III(1966 – 2018)
Bill was born November 10, 1966 in Newport Beach, California and passed away on November 24, 2018, at the age of 52 years. He was a sixth-generation Californian and spent his childhood in Walnut Grove, in the California Delta. He was an excellent student, athlete, and Eagle Scout. Bill graduated from Purdue University in 1989 and then worked in Chicago and southern California before returning to Walnut Grove. After returning to Walnut Grove, Bill joined the California Highway Patrol. He married his wife, Kamy, in 2003. In 2007, Bill and Kamy welcomed their twins, Kelly and Boden. Bill’s commitment to his community is illustrated by his work with the Walnut Grove Fire Department, Boy Scouts of America, and his advocacy of Walnut Grove public safety. One of Bill’s greatest joys was spending time with family and friends. He was known by many names: Wilbur, Wil, Bill, Billy, Uncle, and Daddy depending on which part of his life they shared. He was a committed and protective father and husband. Bill cherished family time. All would say that Bill never met a stranger and once he considered you a friend, you were his friend for life. This was especially true with his Purdue family. Wilbur loved them dearly and remained in constant contact over the years. Bill is survived by his wife, Kamdin Dixon; his children, Kelly Catherine Dixon and Boden James Dixon; his mother, Kristin Johnson Dixon; and his sister Catherine Dixon Clements and her husband Jay. Bill was preceded in death by his father, James Wayne “Jim” Dixon. Bill’s memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00PM at the Walnut Grove Community Church, 14120 Grand Ave, Walnut Grove, CA 95690.
