Wesley Sakai passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2011 in his home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, of coronary heart disease. Wes was born on January 28, 1950, to Sue and William Sakai (deceased), and is survived by his two sisters, Katherine Lawrence and Wendy Notsinneh (Walter) and three nephews, Anthony, Curtis (Josefina) and Aaron.
Born and raised in Sacramento, he was a graduate of C.K. McClatchy High School, Sacramento State University, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Wes spent his adult life in Japan where he worked professionally in the world of sports marketing, and most recently, lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He lived life to its fullest with unreserved exuberance, joy and passion. Wes was a loving brother, uncle and friend to those at home and around the world.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, January 28 at the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church (SJUMC), 6929 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wes may be made to SJUMC, the American Heart Association , or a favorite charity .
