Obituary
Wesley “Wes†Michael Guidera, age 22, of El Dorado Hills, California passed away August 14, 2012 in Sacramento.
Born March 27, 1990, in Sacramento to Jeffery Wayne and Patricia Ann Guidera, he attended Pershing elementary school in Orangevale before moving to Citrus Heights. He attended Churchill Middle School and graduated from Mira Loma High School through the International Baccalaureate Certificate program in 2008. Wes was a student at UC San Diego where he was a senior in Neuroscience and named to the Provost’s Honors List for 2010/2011.
Wes was an ardent basketball fan, and closely followed the Sacramento Kings. He was an avid reader and researcher. He loved Pokémon, Batman, and was known to wear a Power ranger shirt even though he was over 6 feet tall. He enjoyed many late night video game sessions with his friends. He had an extensive music collection, and though he regretted never really learning to play, he had a really cool guitar. He enjoyed baking pies from his own recipes. His section of the family garden consisted of jalapeno, Thai chili, habanero and ghost chilies to complement his adventuresome taste in cuisine. This summer Wesley began practicing Yoga with his father and enjoyed hiking and kayaking in the Sierras with his mother and stepfather Dan Phelps.
Wes volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Susan G. Komen, and several feline rescue groups. True to his spirit as a cat lover and gentle soul, Wesley brought home several kitties from feline rescue.
Wesley Michael Guidera is survived by his parents: Patricia Guidera and Stepfather Daniel Phelps of El Dorado Hills, CA, Jeffery Guidera and Stepmother Anne Boschert of Sacramento; sister Jennifer Phelps of Los Angeles, brother Christopher Phelps of Santa Cruz; grandparents Wayne and Shirley Guidera of Sacramento; and namesakes Wesley James Beyer and Michael Alan Guidera.
Wesley was preceded in death by of his furry friends Fat Cat and Midnight Skater.
“All who met him were impressed by his humor and gentle soul.â€
A memorial service will be held Friday August 24, 6:00pm at Sierra Hills Memorial Park & East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane Sacramento, CA 95841, followed by a private reception for family and friends. A graveside service for family will be held at the time of internment.
