Wen Chung Chen

Wen-chung (Alex) Chen, age 57, passed away on Saturday at home with his family after a 2.5 year-long battle with bone cancer. He was born on April 4, 1956, in Taipei, Taiwan. He graduated from Taipei Institute of Technology in 1979. After immigrating to the United States in 1980, he earned a bachelorâ€™s degree in Civil Engineering from Sacramento State University in 1984. He entered the State Service in 1986 and worked as a civil engineer at both the California Departments of Transportation and Water Resources. He retired from Caltrans on his 57th birthday. In May 2013, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. On June 3, he was baptized and became a Christian. He was called home by the Lord on June 29, 2013 at 6:26 am.
Alex enjoyed stamp collecting, ice skating, dancing, and gardening in his backyard. He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife Michele, two daughters Jessica and Diana, son Justin, parents, one older sister, two younger brothers and one younger sister.
His family and friends will remember a gentle, caring man who was always eager to help and converse on nearly any subject. Alex will be loved and missed by his family and all those whom he touched.
