Thomas Walter Hatton

On May 19, 2015 Thomas passed away at Kaiser Hospital. He would have reached 100 years old on December 5, 2015. Thomas was still living in his home and very active until he fell and broke is hip. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Mary who he greatly missed since her passing in 2012. They will be together again. He was also preceded in death by his son Thomas Gerald (Jerry), brothers John and Richard and sisters Ruth and Mary. He is survived by his daughter Sue Ellen Hatton, Marguerite Hatton (Jerry’s wife), grandchildren Thomas and David Hatton and Michelle Patton, his nieces Joann Sertic, Joyce Schoonmaker, and nephew George Stephens, and six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He served in World War II and the Korean War. Tom retired from McClellan AFB after 31 years as a Supervisor of Quality Control. He was a member of NARFE (American River Chapter 1596). Tom was a former member and treasurer of Three Pillars Masonic Lodge and member of the Bicentennial Daylight Masonic Lodge 830. After Tom retired, he and Mary traveled the US dealing in Antiques for 20 years and opened “Hatton’s Home Furnishings with a Past” on Hurley Way. They loved entertaining for family. For many years, they had an open house for Christmas inviting family and friends for food and refreshments. They also volunteered at the Towe Auto Museum (now the California Auto museum), Tom as a docent and Mary as a Secretary for 20 years. He had relatives and friends too numerous to mention. His neighbors for over 20 years, Elias and Leticia Castro were very helpful to Tom in his final years. At Tom’s request, there will only be a gathering of remembrance at a later date. Tom’s interment was June 5, 2015 at East Lawn Sierra Hills, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA .
