Steve Walter

Dec 24, 1946 - Mar 23, 2019

Steve Walter, beloved and devoted husband, father, brother and friend, born December 24, 1946 in Colusa, CA to John & Jean Walter, passed away with his loving family around him on March 23, 2019.
Steve grew up in Arbuckle, CA and graduated from Chico State University where he met, Sara, his wife of 47 years. He was a wonderful father to their daughter, Kelli, and son, Brent. During his Air Force Service, he was stationed in Germany, England and Thailand.
Steve loved his work with wholesale nurseries and retail nurseries in Northern California. Making friends and enjoying plants brought him joy. Steve was a member and elder of Grace Presbyterian Church. He volunteered with the Sacramento Tree Foundation leading tree tours in neighborhoods and in Capital Park. Though he thoroughly enjoyed traveling, he also loved working in the yard and garden, his church group breakfasts, golf with his buddies and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Sara, children, Kelli and Brent, and brother, Bob (Michelle), nephews John (Rochelle) and Zack, cousins, neighbors and friends.
A service in Steve’s memory will be held on Friday, March 29th at 3:30 pm in the Pavilion Tent at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.

One day I saw Steve at Home Depot and we started to have a walk back in time discussing similar experiences from high school! I was pleased to hear him describe many happy memories from the good old days!! Many of our experiences were surprisingly similar! I suddenly realized that Steve was a very kind and friendly man yet enjoyed a good time and a fun filled life! I enjoyed our conversation and felt I was in the presence of s very nice and respectable gentleman! His good and kind nature will be missed! The world needs more people like Steve !

So sorry for your loss. May your family find comfort at this difficult time as you all look forward to God’s promise at Rev 21:4 which says: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. “
