Stephen John Porter

Passed away on August 25, 2013 after a battle with cancer, he was 74.
Stephen was born in Sacramento, CA on May 15, 1939, and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1957.  As a young man he played softball and basketball.
He lived was a resident of the Elk Grove area for over 35 years and worked for Luppen and Hawley as an electrician.
He was also an electrical inspector for the City of Sacramento responsible for inspecting many street lights and traffic signals. 
He was a life long member of the LDS church, holding many leadership positions including Bishop of the Florin and Vintage Park Wards.  He believed in working hard and serving others.  He touched the lives of many people.  Survived by wife of 53 years, Ardith, his three brothers: Charles (Utah), Phil (Colorado), Doug (Carmichael)  and one sister Betsey Ballard (Mather); four children: David, Michael (Rebecca), Cindy Riley (Michael), Judy Huston (Mark); eight grandchildren: Christopher Riley (Risa), Liesl Huston, Alycia Ayala (Mario), Alex Porter, Brittany Huston, Amber Riley, Stephen Riley, William Porter; and four great-grandchildren: Antonio Ayala, Ivie Riley, Emylee Ayala, Abigail Riley, soon Carlos Ayala.  Friends are invited to attend a Memorial service Thurs., Aug. 29, 2013 at 1:00 at the LDS Church at 8925 Vintage Park Drive, Sacramento, CA.  Internment will be private.  In lieu of flowers-contribute may be made to The LDS Missionary Fund.
