Silvino Yepes

Mar 30, 1929 - Jan 13, 2016

Silvino T. Yepes, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2016 – surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 30, 1929 in Cavite, Philippines and had lived for the past 21 years in Elk Grove with his beloved wife, Matilde and close to much of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Matilde, son Robert, daughters Lilia, Vikki and Nancy, by grandchildren Stephanie, Anthony, Albert and Zack, sons in law Bill, Al and Tony, and by sisters Julia and Mary.
Known affectionately as Everyone’s Uncle back in the Philippines, Silvino made fast friends at work and in the neighborhood. People trusted “Onib”, as he was nicknamed, not only for the sage advice he gave, but for the quiet air of authority with which he gave it. He was serious but always tempered this with an easy smile and good humor.
It would come as little surprise that, upon retiring, Silvino transitioned into a second calling as a lay minister.
Onib spent his free time pursuing his passion for bowling, running the table as a billiard king and enjoying all the Philippine outdoors had to offer, especially fishing.
But perhaps his most beloved pastime was that of doting Grandfather.
