horses as a young girl and was proud of the fact that she got on a horse at age seventy-five. Last year, at almost ninety, she drove a backhoe around her backyard when her grandson was working on a project there.
At eighty-two she survived a deadly infection called C-Dif and emergency surgery even though the doctors didn’t think that she would make it. She was very healthy until October of this year. Even in the hospital when asked what heart medications she took, her answer was, “none.” Then the doctor asked who her cardiologist was. She answered, “I’ve never seen one.” The doctor was surprised and she responded, “That’s why I’m ninety-one.”
