Samuel Thomas Hughes

Samuel Thomas Hughes was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on December 7, 1941. He died in Sacramento, California on October 28, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

At the age of two years his family moved to Reno, Nevada where he started school at Sierra Vista Elementary. The family moved to Sacramento, California in 1960 and he graduated from Elk Grove High in June 1969.

Sam worked at many jobs including a Bee route, auto upholstery, home construction, a bird farm specializing in ostriches and as a warehouse worker at a moving and storage facility.

For fun he enjoyed watching ball games on TV, especially the Forty-Niners. He rode Harley-Davidsons, liked pizza and cherry pie.

He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Jacqueline, son Samuel James, grandsons Samuel Thomas Hughes and Michael James Hughes, a step-son Robert Price and his parents Billy Thomas Hughes and Ruth N. Hughes, his sisters Diana Bachman, Elaine Wilson and Mary Gudeman, a nephew , three nieces and his beloved dog, Dude.

    There isn’t a day goes by that I cannot stop crying.. I,m so sorry honey and I wish I could have taken your place. Life has been so empty without you and I can’t imagine it ever getting any better. I focus on the 35 years we did get together and it seems such a short time. Dude it’s doing well without you either but, we will all be together again one day. I’ll Love You Forever. Your wife and best friend.
