Ruby D. Yee

Oct 1, 1922 - Feb 14, 2012

YEE, Ruby Din
Age 89, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

Ruby was born on October 1, 1922 in San Francisco, CA, the eldest of eight children born to Hew Din and Lock Shee Din. Ruby grew up in Woodland, CA, where she graduated from Woodland High School in 1940.

After WWII, Ruby met George Yee, a pharmacist, at an American Legion dinner dance. They married on May 16, 1948 and went on to build their life together in Sacramento. They raised three children: Christine, Lauren and Cameron, supported by the long-term ownership and operation of Fruitridge Pharmacy in South Sacramento. Ruby and George were loyal participants in the community service activities of the South Sacramento Lions and the American Legion, Gung Ho Post.

Ruby was a wonderful mom, always ready to protect and nurture her family. She loved extended family get-togethers; savored good food; and liked to read, listen to music, and attend live theater. She greatly enjoyed traveling, including cruising, to far away destinations as well as visits to casinos to play slot machines. Ruby bowled in winter and summer leagues for over 50 years, serving as secretary of the Chinese Mixed Summer League for more than 20 years. She was an avid fan of the Sacramento Kings.

Ruby was predeceased by her parents, her husband, three brothers (George, Frank, and James), and one sister-in-law (Esther Fong Din). She is survived by her children and their spouses (Christine and Michael Hollis, Lauren and Howard Tsztoo, Cameron Yee and David Pritchett) and her granddaughters (Camille Tsztoo and Emma Tsztoo). She is also survived by three brothers and their spouses (Jack and Mae Din, John and Marge Din, and Hank and Deidre Din), one sister and spouse (Lucy and Frank Wong), one sister-in-law (Esther Owyang Din), and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and to a celebration of life on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Harry A. Nauman & Son, 4041 Freeport Boulevard, Sacramento, California.
