She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev Cyril E. and Effie Scott; her two brothers, Ralph and Paul Scott; her husband, Maurice Bowler, and 16-year old son, Ronnie Bowler. Surviving family are children: Larry (& Melva) Bowler; Maureen Bowler O’Connell; and Dave (& Doreen) Bowler; grandchildren Monica Bowler Silver, Barry O’Connell; Darren Bowler; Russell O’Connell; Kristen O’Connell, Kimberly Bowler Sook, and Rev James O’Connell, and their children, 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephews Roger (& Denise) Scott, Nathan Scott, and niece Cheryl Scott.
Rozella was born on October 22, 1927, in Terra Haute, Indiana to her preacher dad and mom, the youngest of the three children. They moved to California in the late 1940’s to West Sacramento, where she met and married Maurice Bowler in January 1948, with a ready-made family of Larry & Maureen. She had two sons, Dave and Ronnie. She was a homemaker and mother, which included full-time caregiving to her disabled son Ronnie for 16 years. After the children were gone, in 1970, she went to Sierra College, completing a course in the home health aide program and worked in a convalescent home. She then worked for the grocery stores as a Secret Shopper for several years. For many years, along with her friends, she worked as an election inspector (poll worker) during elections. She was a nanny to Natalie and Nicholas Foley, whom she loving cared for and they became like family to her. She remained close to the children as well as the parents, Jim and Jeanne Foley. Maury and Rozella were married for 52 years until parted by his death in 2000.
Rozella was active in the Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years where she made many long-time friends. In recent years, events transpired so that she no longer had close proximity or transportation to her church, and she sorely missed this. The highlights of her last years were lunch and shopping with her friends and it was her joy was that all her children and grandchildren were in the church.
