Oct 6, 1945 - Sep 24, 2019
Rowena Fong passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 24, 2019. She was born October 6, 1945 to Hon Leung Tam and Shui Sou Wong in Hong Kong. Rowena married Frank Fong in 1964 and moved to the United States shortly afterward, settling in Sacramento. Together, Frank and Rowena were entrepreneurs and successfully ran several restaurants and bars including Frank’s and Dawson’s in Dixon, and Frank’s Pagoda and New Trio in Sacramento. Because of their warm hospitality, many customers became life-long friends. After Frank’s untimely death in 1995, Rowena continued to run the businesses on her own. She eventually sold the businesses, but continued to work at the Sutter Club until retiring in 2015. When not working to provide a better life for her family, she enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Asia. This included traveling throughout California and trips to the East Coast (her favorites were Niagra Falls, Graceland, Florida), Hawaii, Texas, Canada, Jamaica, Hong Kong and many parts of Asia. She also enjoyed playing mahjong and eating out regularly with good friends and spending time with her family, especially her only grandson Curtis.
Rowena was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Fong and beloved son Frank D. Fong. Rowena is survived by her loving daughters Fay Ann (Robert) Holland and Fay (Rodney) Yee and grandson Curtis Yee.
