Ronald E. Schlenker

Born November 13, 1932 to the late Arthur R and Olive C. Schlenker, passed away peacefully, following a five year battle with Alzeimer’s on January 18, 2012. Ron’s life began in Rugby, North Dakota; the state he called home until eleven when his family answered the call to come west and settled in Sacramento, California. He graduated from Grant Union High and joined the Naval Reserve, while a student at Sacramento City College. Looking forward to graduation Uncle Sam had different plans for him and he was drafted during Korean War, where he served three years in the Navy as a Communications Tech. After his honorable discharge from the Navy Ron followed his father Arthur into banking and worked at several local banks for 30 years. He finished his work years with 15 years as a State employee. Including his parents Ron was preceded in death by his sisters Norma Jean Schlenker and Lois Arlene Schlenker Reed and nephew Jeffery Arthur Schlenker. He is survived by his brothers Kenneth (Pattie) and George (Pat) Schlenker and children Jennifer Leon (Ignacio), Ronald Scott and Matthew Schlenker, Anastasia Jones, daughters Krissy Jones Green and Jessica Jones, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the caretakers, nurses and staff at Sue’s Golden Care Home. The family suggests donations to Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California.
