Roberta Eakin, 81, of Elk Grove passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014
She was born in the midst of an earthquake in Los Angeles, California on March 8, 1933 to the late Marie MacNew and Robert Lagana. Roberta attended Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California. She married Dr. Roy A. Eakin on February 25, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Roberta was an avid member of the community in the Sacramento area. She was a licensed Real Estate agent for many years and loved working to help people buy and sell a home. Roberta also spent seven years managing a delicatessen restaurant in Sacramento. She also volunteered for the Sacramento Children’s Home in the 1970’s. In later life, Roberta was very active in her church, Capital Christian Center. Roberta loved volunteering at Capital Christian Center. She made many friends through her Women of the World (WOW) bible study group and worship services.
Roberta spent her entire life loving her family. She raised her boys to be good and her love was unconditional. Her love for her husband was always constant and unyielding and they were married for fifty-nine years.
Her husband Dr. Roy A. Eakin survives Roberta. Three children; Lee Eakin of Palm Springs, CA, Dr. Eric Eakin of Reno, NV and Bryan Eakin of Sacramento, CA survive Roberta. Two grandchildren; the late Nathaniel Eakin and Roy Eakin also survive her. She always gave and received joy from spending time with her grandchildren.
