WILLETT, Robert Suthers ‘Bob’
Born in Akron, Ohio July 17, 1926, passed away February 27, 2012. Bob lived a full life – he attended Kit Carson Jr. High, Sacramento High School and Sacramento Jr. College where he was active in Track & Field and Football. After Junior College he served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp before attending the University of California at Berkley, graduating in 1950. Bob worked for the Federal Government and Aerojet before completing his Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law in 1961. He spent over 20 years in the Sacramento County Counsel’s office working mainly in land-use and for several years served as counsel for the Planning Department. Later he was a partner at Hefner, Stark & Marois and taught law school at Lorenzo Patino Law School. After retiring from practicing law full time, he served two terms on the Sacramento County Grand Jury.

Bob enjoyed sports and was active in the Jesuit High School Booster Club, serving as president for a term. He loved being a member of the ‘Chain Gang’ at football games. Bob was a member of the Sacramento International Track & Field Summer Games committee, served on the board and as President of the Sacramento Zoological Society and was active in the Rotary Club of Point West, Sacramento where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and V.P. ‘Doc’ Willett. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen; his four children, Robert, Jr. (Mary), Richard (Araceli), Gregory (Lydia) and Margaret Haesloop (Brian), all of Sacramento. He adored his precious granddaughters, April Rosas-Willett and Elizabeth Gilhooly. He will be missed by his brothers, James A. Willett (Genia) and Paul F. Willett (Carol); and his nieces, nephew and cousins and their families.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass, Monday March 5, 10:00am at Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish Church, 3235 Arden Way, Sacramento.
