Obituary

Rick Perry, age 70, passed away at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento on November 17, 2015.

Rick was born October 17, 1945 in Oakland, CA. He lived the last 25 years of his life in Galt, CA. He was dubbed the “Wild Portagee”, a title he greatly appreciated, as an innovator in the Northern California racing circuit in the 1960s and 70s. During the following years he owned body shops, remote controlled racecar businesses, announced races with his longtime dear friend George Hague and earned respect as a show car builder. For 25 years, Rick managed and promoted some of the most highly regarded Custom Car and Hot Rod Shows in California. He was known for his big personality, creativity, great integrity and high principles. Through the shows, Rick he gained the respect and love of hundreds of friends whom he loved in return.

He has been inducted to the San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show Hall of Fame, the Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame and is a member of the Sacramento Autorama Legends among many other honors.

Rick is survived by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 50 years, Donna; Daughter Angi Perry, and Daughter and Son-in-Law, Dawn and Oscar Perez as well as his 7 beautiful Grandchildren, Rhiannon, Jaden, Velia, Gabriel, Angelo, Elvia and Cruz. He is also survived by siblings, Denise Barta, Roselle Lozano, Rickie Wilson, and Richard Garcia, as well as numerous well loved nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces. Rick was preceded in death by his loving parents Joseph and Bernice Perry and sister Jobea.

A celebration of life will be held on December 13, 2015 at the Falls Event Center, 8280 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove. Friends and relatives are welcome. Please RSVP via text message to Angi 209-242-3330.
