They finally opened a Dimple Records store in Elk Grove where I work, at lunch I had picked up a cd of Neil Diamond’s Hot Summer Nights, it was on the song, “Done Too Soon” when I checked my messages and got the news from Kat that Richard had passed on. When ever I listen to this song now, I will think of him. “And each one there, there’s one thing shared. They had, sweated beneath the same sun, looked up with wonder at the same moon, and wept when it was all done, for being done too soon,,, for being done too soon.”

  • Emily says:

I know I wrote a few words before the service but I felt I had more to say. Knowing Richard since the 7th grade has been a blessing. One thing I inherited is Richard’s extended family. I also will miss and currently miss the little things. After I got pregnant with Mariah I lived in Florida and then Nevada. I don’t know how Ricahrd knew we had moved maybe cause we stayed in contact. One day he was just there and moved in with Mariah and I. It is hard for her to remember but Richard was her daddy too. Then we conceived MaryBeth and on the first of Sept. 96 we moved back to Calif. One thing we did before Mary was born is DRIVE a car from Parahump, NV to Calif. There was i city that was 30 mins away. We didn’t like staying in Nevada so we tease ourself at least once a month. Now I would love to have those days. Rent was $300 and included w/d. and the ulities were low. Once Richard and I moved back here we didn’t live together. Thankfully we stayed in contact and I will always remember the times we shared. Three kiss means “I love you”. Richard always said “Hakuna Matata”. Which for those of with out kids means no worries.

  • Nancy Shumate says:

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Richard’s family and friends. He was a very good hearted young man. My prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. Richard was a friend of my son, Colby.
