Obituary

Reiko Davis passed away peacefully on March 6, 2017. Born February 1, 1934, to Katsunosuke and Shige Shibata in Yamagata-Ken, Japan. She married her husband William Davis, whom she affectionately called Daddy, in 1959. She met Mr. Davis while he was serving in the US Air Force in 1957. They fell in love, were married and moved to Massachusetts and gave birth to their first son Malcolm. Reiko missed her family and hometown so much that she convinced William to move back to Japan shortly after Malcolm’s birth. They went on to have two more sons named Michael and Lewis in Japan before moving to Travis AFB, CA and then finally Sacramento, CA in 1974. They planned to raise their boys in a nice established community and they did just that until she widowed in 1986 with the sudden death of her beloved husband.
She loved to cook, shop, tend to her garden and play bingo. Her biggest joy in life was to care for her three sons, Malcolm (Kelly), Michael and Lewis. She also loved her grandchildren: Anjelia, Kristyn, Alex, Anthony and Adrian. They all adored their Grandma Reiko, her sense of humor and her delicious cooking, especially her famous salmon and rice.
Mrs. Davis is survived by two sisters, Teruchan, and Tsuneko who delighted Reiko as a small child while growing up in Japan. Many friends will miss her as well in the Valley Hi Community where she lived most of her life. The family would like to thank her special friend Diane and the staff at Norwood Pines for her care until her passing. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Cure.

  • Dee says:

My condolences to the family. As you comprehend this profound loss…know that it is okay to grieve the loss of your dear loved one. For the true God in the heavens feel your pain (Psalms 83:18). He knows your suffering and will help you cope with your grief. Have faith in God’s promise at Acts 24:15 of having the hope of seeing your loved one again. It is comforting for us to know that God does not cause suffering and that one day it will end Job 14:14-15 and Rev. 21:3,4.

  • Sis, Alex, Ant and Adrian (Little Boy) says:

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, Who abide in His shadow for life, Say to the Lord, “My Refuge, My Rock in Whom I trust.” And he will raise you up on eagle’s wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His Hand…….. Peace be with you ! We love you Grandma Reiko
