Obituary

HERNANDEZ, Porfirio (Perry)
…slipped the surly bonds of Earth on September 17, 2011, in Sacramento. Born in Pueblo, Colorado, June 24, 1926, to Lucas and Nieves Hernandez, he leaves his devoted wife of 63 years, Stella; children: Kathryn, Marcella, Anna, Richard, Aleta, Laura, Timothy, and Robert; grandchildren: Keeley, Garrett, Ryan, Alex, Leighla, Lucas, Benjamin, Brandon, Hailey, Vincent, and Thomas. Survived by siblings: Robert, Deluvina, Charles, and Magdalene; preceded in death by Mary, Snowie (Mary), Frances (Lola), Raymond, and Valdemar. Perry was an engineer with the State of California, and followed in his father’s footsteps as a Scoutmaster. His children fondly remember the annual road trips to Colorado exploring a multitude of national parks and historical monuments; Sunday drives; awakening before dawn to watch the latest space launch; and regular library visits. As a private pilot, flying was his life’s passion. Thank you to Kaiser Hospice for their support and care. We also thank everyone at Carlton Plaza for their dedication to our father’s comfort, as well as the care and compassion they extended to our family.
‘I shall pass through this world but once. Any good thing, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow human being let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.’
– Stephen Grellet
