Peter Nick Papajohn

Papajohn, Peter Nick (Papaioannou, Panayiotis Nikolaos) passed away on August 21, 2015. Pete was born in Thana, (Tripoli) Greece on May 10, 1927 to Nikolaos Papaioannou and Anastasia Tsagari (Changaris).
Pete settled in Yuba City, California shortly after the 1956 floods, and worked on his Uncle’s farm while attending Yuba City College. In the early 1960s he decided to move to Sacramento to find employment. After working for a local auto shop for a few years as a Mechanic, he opened Pete’s Texaco on Freeport Boulevard in 1964. For several decades, Pete’s Texaco/Automotive was a neighborhood landmark and was known for it’s full service pumping stations and customer service. Many of Pete’s customers followed him to his new location on 24th Street and continued to contact him into retirement.
Pete is survived by his wife, Anna (Douvea) of 51 years, his daughters Tasia Papajohn and Maria Papajohn-Katsandres, son-in-law Athan Katsandres, grandchildren James and Anna Katsandres, and many family members and friends.
Trisagion services will be held at East Lawn-Elk Grove Memorial Park, 9189 E. Stockton Boulevard, Elk Grove, CA 95624 at 7:00 p.m. August 26, 2015.
Funeral services will be at Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 9165 Peets Street, Elk Grove, CA 95758 at 11:00 a.m. on August 27, 2015.
Interment at East Lawn Memorial, 4300 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95819.
