Obituary

PAUL LAUSEVIC, SR., OWNER OF EUROPEAN SPORTS CAR GARAGE, DIES

Paul Lausevic, Sr, owner of European Sports Car Garage and European Auto Parts, passed away in Carmichael on June 29 at the age of 78 from prostate cancer.

Born Pavle Lausevic on January 1, 1938 in Banja Luka, former Yugoslavia, Paul was the youngest son of five children and determined from a young age to make his own mark in the world. He emigrated to America at 22 with a guitar on his back and $20 in his pocket, crossing the Atlantic on a one month voyage on board the cargo passenger ship “M/V Bovec.” and arrived to Sacramento by Greyhound bus in 1960. Shortly after arriving, he began his training and trade in foreign auto repairs and was esteemed as a highly skilled and natural technician. He didn’t wait long to launch European Sports Car Garage and quickly developed the reputation of being capable of using his musical “ear” to listen to an engine’s sound when he test drove cars to diagnose them. His customers came from far and wide to have their cars repaired by him and was known for his integrity and hard work. He was the epitome of the “American Dream” come true. He achieved so much in his life and was motivated to succeed out of his love and commitment to family.

Paul is survived by sweetheart and devoted wife of 50 years, Milka Lausevic and their three children: Paul Lausevic, Jr. of Carmichael, who continues the legacy of European Sports Car Garage; son Daniel Lausevic of Rancho Cordova; daughter Vivian Lausevic Crater of Falls Church, VA. He will also be deeply missed by sister Lidija Barkovic of Redlands, CA, his son-in-law Jeffrey Crater, his three grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and family and friends in the former Yugoslavia.

A funeral service will be conducted at the East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel (4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento) on Wednesday, July 6 at 2pm, followed by a reception celebrating his life.
