Obituary

Patricia Young Ward was born on March 14th, 1941 in Exeter, CA.  She was the third child of Bennie and Flora Young.  She passed away on May 31st, 2014 at the age of 73 years, in Welling, Ok, surrounded by her family.

Sister Pat was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on July 20th 1954.  At the age of 26 years old she arrived in Sacramento California, single, with 3 small children.  No money, no job. She moved in with her parents, went back to school, got her diploma, went to business school and into the work force.  She was a single parent long before it was common as it is now.  She went to work at Ever – Rite answering service where she worked for 17 years, providing a living for her and her children.  After her children were raised, she applied to the State of California, where she was hired and worked until she retired at age 62.  One her jobs while working for the state was helping business’s get certified to Smog cars.  For several years, if you were licensed to Smog check vehicles, it was only with her approval.  She was pretty proud of that fact.

Sister Pat was a very avid reader; she loved watching figure skating, the Olympics and baseball, even attending the World Series in 1972. Pat was also a beautiful singer and was requested to sing at many church funerals.

But in her later years, she really enjoyed her grandchildren.  If you were ever in her home, you saw all the pictures of her babies. She was not only thier “Grams” but their friend.  As they would all tell you, she would always be there for them.  Emotionally, financially, or even if they needed a little talking to, she was there.  In 2009, she embarked on a trip she had talked about and planed for many years.  She and her cousin Bev took off from Sacramento and traveled across the country.  They went to Las Vegas, New Orleans, Florida, Washington DC, New York, all along the east coast. They saw the statue of liberty, the Great Lakes, Niagara Falls and many other national treasures.  They were gone for about six weeks or so and came home exhausted but happy.  A trip of a life time.

As she felt her health fade, she left Sacramento in 2010 and moved to Oklahoma to live Randy and Judy, where she stayed until her passing Saturday morning surrounded by her family whom she loved so very deeply and looking forward to eternal life with the Lord whom she served.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Flora Young, 1 sister Shirley, and 2 brothers, Benjamin Jr. and David Leonard Young, Sr.  She is survived by 1 sister in law, Donna McCracken and husband Wendell of Paul’s Valley, OK. 3 children, Randy Ward and wife Judy of Welling, OK, Sandy Ward and wife Cindy of Sacramento, CA and her daughter Penney Wilkinson of Tahlequah, OK.   12 grandchildren, Robert Ward and wife Cherisse of Welling, Ok, Kevin Ward and wife Kathleen of Sacramento, CA, Ryan Ward of Tulsa, OK, Brad Ward of Sacramento, CA, Kristy Messner and husband Brandon of Welling, OK, Summer Ward of Sacramento, CA, Kelly Center and husband Kahlan of Welling, Ok, Tawney  Negrone  and husband Peter of Sacramento, CA,  Katie Davis and husband Eric of Tulsa, OK, Heather Wilkinson of Tahlequah, OK,  Ashley Walker and husband Gavin of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Dave Wilkinson of Tahlequah, Ok.  11 great grandchildren and waiting on 3 more.
