A native of the Philippines, born to the late Rustico and Teodorica Onia. He is the youngest of two children. After the passing of his beloved mother, his father remarried and had two additional children (Ryan and Carmelo).
Oscar passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on November 26, 2011 after a valiant fight with cancer surrounded by his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Dolores Onia and his beloved children Narciso (Fe), Omar (Gloria), Andrus (Milanie), Kerry Anne (Justin) and Richard (Priscilla) and his most cherished and adored grandchildren Eliza, Nicole, Oscar Jr., Nina, Jaydon, Connor and Caleb. He also leaves behind his beloved brother Prospero Onia and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who miss him dearly.
A resident of Sacramento for 27 years, Oscar retired after 17 years of services with the Department of General Services. During his retirement he loved to be surrounded by his family who he worshiped. His passion in life was to cook, he made meals that make you keep coming back for seconds and thirds. Oscar loved to go shopping with his wife, talk on the phone for hours with family and friends as he joked about life and etc., trips to the local casinos and buffets, farmer’s markets and traveling to Southern California to visit his beloved cousin Joel Cudal and family. He was also known to many as the “Millionaire Match Maker,” he introduced many relatives and friends and helped to unite and bless them through marriage. Oscar was humble and a giving man, he would do what he was capable of, without hesitation, to better the lives of those around him. His fulfillment in life was to serve his family and he did so with dignity and grace. Oscar will be missed and loved by all those who he touched in his life.
