Orazio Artidoro “Art” Morelli(1920 – 2017)
Orazio Artidoro “Art” Morelli passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017 in Sacramento. Born in San Nicandro, Italy on July 25, 1920, he entered the military and spent 5 years in North Africa. After his return to Italy, he traveled and lived in Venezuela for two years, finally immigrating to Santa Cruz, CA in 1957 where he resided for 53 years and worked at Lone Star Industries. He eventually moved to Sacramento to be closer to his children. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Michelina Dora Morelli, and survived by his children Remo Morelli (Julie) of San Anselmo, John Morelli (Rhonda) from Gold River, and Angela Morelli (Lubo) from Sacramento; and grandchildren Nicholas, Taylor, Michael, Colin, Aleksandra, and Adrianna. He will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews both in Italy and the U.S. He will be missed by his loving family, who will remember him for his generosity, dedication to family, winemaking, and his wonderful garden, the fruits of which he shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Private services will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis and Herberger Funeral Home in Sacramento on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, followed by entombment at East Lawn Cemetery; and a celebration of his life to follow.
