Natalie Scaggs 1913-2013

She was born in Kansas, lived in Oklahoma and during the Great Dust Bowl moved out west to California.  She has been in Sacramento County since 1948. 

Natalie worked a STAR mail route prior to WW2, during WW2 she worked as an Electrician’s Helper at Mare Island in Vallejo, CA.  In 1948 she relocated to Sacramento County and dedicated 26 years to Campbells Soup Co.  She then dedicated her time to taking care of her father, Henry Ebel until his passing in 1977. 

Over the years Natalie supported her children’s enrichment projects and education by attending courses with them.  In the early 1980’s she enrolled with her daughter Joyce in a porcelain doll making class. Over the years she made many porcelain dolls including designing and hand sewing their costumes. In 1990 she graduated with daughter Jane from Sierra College with her Home Health Aid Certificate.  At one point she helped her son Ronald by sewing wings onto his airplane. 

Natalie was an active member of Capital Christian Center since 1948.  Over the years she worked in the Friendship Circle helping to make quilts and devoted time to various missionary projects.  When Capital Christian Center’s School first started she was the first financial donor for the project. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Katie Ebel, two husbands Raymond Barrows and Earl Scaggs, her sisters Amelia and Selma and brother Edward.

Natalie had four children, Jane Bryan, Ronald Barrows, Joyce Caudel and Gerald Scaggs. Ten grandchildren Charles Vernon Guess, Jon William Guess, Kenneth Barrows, Kelly Barrows, Raymond Wren Barrows, Paul Barrows, Robert Allen Caudel, Mark Edward Caudel, Laura Lynne Caudel Wentz, and Jonathan David Scaggs.

Natalie had 14 great grandchildren, Melissa Guess, Jessica Guess, Rachelle Guess, Sharnel Guess Crowder, Danielle Guess, Jacob Barrows, Kyle Barrows, Kayla Barrows, Robert Caudel, Daniel Caudel, Matthew Caudel, Natalie Caudel, Parris Wentz, and Amber Wentz.

Natalie also had 14 great-great grandchildren, Symon Spencer, Matthew Wray, Elizabeth Segura, Faith Garrette, Ryan Garrette, Ayda Crowder, Mya Crowder, Kameron Hildenbrand, Anthony Mellott, Anthony Barrows, Arabella Barrows, Alivia Caudel, Sawyer Caudel, and Penelope Caudel.
