Nancy Jean Olson
Sep 15, 1950 - Dec 13, 2017
Nancy was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She is survived by her 91-year-old mother Carol Olson, her sister Janet Colello, and nieces Michele and Lisa Jonsson. Nancy was born in San Francisco, but moved to Danville, California with her family where she spent her formative years. She was the second daughter of Bob and Carol Olson. Bob was a successful executive working for Patrick and Co in San Francisco. Carol is the granddaughter of the late Edward Kripp, a famous Sacramento character who owned and operated the first west coast professional baseball team – the Sacramento Gilt Edge.
Nancy attended San Ramon Valley High School and enjoyed hiking, boating, socializing, and bike riding. Nancy relocated to Sacramento, California, where she purchased a home in 1994. She worked a variety of jobs during her long career, including with Dean Unger, AIA, an architect firm in Midtown Sacramento. She was very proud of her volunteer work with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department as well.
After retirement, Nancy coordinated a Meetup group called Seniors-in-Motion and was enthusiastically devoted to organizing social events for those in their 50’s and up. She also enjoyed being in nature, and her love for wildlife extended to bird photography along the San Ramon Valley Creek, where her mother lives.
Nancy will be buried at the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery (1000 Broadway at 10th St) on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.. All friends, family, and acquaintances are welcome to join. A memorial ceremony will also be held in the East Bay, with the date and time to be announced.
