Mary K. Hatton

Apr 27, 1918 - Nov 1, 2012

Mary K. Hatton passed away Nov. 1, 2012 at the age of 94.  She was born in Ruth, NV to George and Mary Korich, immigrants from Yugoslavia. She passed away peacefully after a 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s.  Thomas Hatton, her very devoted husband of 59 years, spent many hours at her side.  Mary was preceded in death by her stepson Gerry Hatton, a sister Anna K. Stephens, and brothers John, Steve and Mike Korich, and nephew Jack Korich.  Beside her husband, Thomas Hatton, she is survived by her stepdaughter Sue Hatton, a daughter-in law Marge Hatton, grandchildren Thomas B. Hatton, David Hatton & Michelle Patton, nieces Joyce Schoonmaker, Joann Sertic and nephew George Stephens, and many great-nieces and nephews.  After Mary’s sister, Anna, became a widow at 25, Mary helped care for her children, Joann and George.  She attended San Juan High School and Heald Business College.  After graduating, Mary was employed by the California Highway Planning and Directors Office of the Division of Highways.  She advanced to supervisor of the clerical staff where she worked for 26 years, until her retirement.  She was President of the YMCA Women’s Club.  Additionally, she was involved in volunteer work with The Tuberculosis Association, USO during WWII and Korean Wars, Towe Auto Museum and Discovery Shop (Cancer Society).  Mary and Thomas were antique dealers and traveled the United States.  They owned Hatton’s Home Furnishings with a Past on Hurley Way in Sacramento.  Interment was held at East Lawn Mortuary, Greenback Lane, Sacramento.  Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice.  At Mary’s request, no services were held.  A private family memorial will be held for Mary at a later date.
