Martin Patrick Erickson
“An uncompromising man of integrity and unaltered faith” January 7th, 1966 – November 21, 2016

Martin was born January 7, 1966 to Gloria and Maurice Erickson. Martin was the youngest of the bunch and was the 8th and final child to bless and complete the Erickson Family. From an early age Martin’s devotion and faith in God was clear for all to see. He grew to be a beautiful man inside and out. He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. The countless hours spent enjoying the outdoors, true quality times spent with nieces and nephews laughing and having fun, revving the jet skis up and down the river, laying under the sum on the beach with a bottle of sun tan oil, helping others any way he possibly could, and most of all spreading the word of God and professing his faith to any and all he encountered. He was smart, resourceful, ambitious and determined. He built stubborn walls to protect his fragile heart. He constructed a defensive brittle confidence. But what he really wanted more than anything was closeness. Martin longed to see love, tolerance and acceptance in the world. He truly was a gentle and kind hearted soul. Martin fought an extremely tough battle with cancer the last 4 months of his life. He found comfort and security within his faith and never complained throughout the fight. Martin trusted God’s will and accepted his calling. He earned his angel wings and entered into Eternity on November 21, 2016 at the age of 50. Martin is now at rest in peace with his God.Please hold him close in your mind, heart, and spirit. Remember the goodness in his heart. And let us all find and encourage within ourselves the qualities that make each of us special. Not our financial status or job title, mot the house we live in or the cars we drive. But the morals and values within our character, the integrity we possess, and the depth of our faith. Let us be reminded the extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart. Life is forever changed because for now we are apart. So until our heavenly reunion we will keep him in our hearts. Martin’s legacy of love and faith is alive in our hearts and there is where it will always be. As he dwells among the angels in Peace and Harmony. Touched by an angel, Martin was a gift from above. Sent down from heaven to show us God’s love. A lifetime well spent and a mission complete. God called him home but one fine day we shall once again meet. Somewhere over the rainbow, half way across the sky. Eternity waits for each of us in our own time. Martin leaves behind his beloved mother Gloria Smellie and his cherished Great Aunt Isabel Flook. He leaves his 7 older siblings Moe, Renee, Leslie, Bob, Lisa, Karen, and John along with so many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. We will all miss him more than words can express. Martin will be laid to rest on December the 7th. 2016 Full Funeral Catholic Mass to be held 11:30 am at the Presentation Catholic Church located at 4123 Robertson Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821 The graveside service will follow at Sierra Hills Memorial Park and East Lawn Mortuary 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841 Visitation and the Rosary will be tuesday at East Lawn Mortuary, Tuesday December 6, 2016 6-8pm
