Marjorie Anita Barr   October 20, 1921 – April 15, 2012

Born to Sidney and Louise Waite on October 20, 1921, in Ozona, Florida, Margie passed away April 15, 2012, at the age of 90. She was raised in Columbus, Ohio, the eldest of seven children and had plenty of stories to tell about growing up in a large family during the Depression. She married Ernest Clyde Barr on September 21, 1947 and after a particularly icy, cold winter they moved to California in 1952.  Margie worked as a secretary for several employers over the years and raised two daughters to believe in women’s rights as fervently as she did. She loved animals, supported the SPCA and was a strong believer in providing “forever homes” to rescue/shelter pets. Margie is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Ernest Barr and her youngest brother Louis Waite. She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Greenberg (Gary), Julie Barr (Lori Alexander); grandpuppies Manny, Cowboy, Charlie, Katie and Mandy; two sisters, Betty Carter, Jeanne Moore; three brothers, Donald Waite, Raymond Waite and Robert Waite (Carol); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was loved and will be missed by all of them. A graveside memorial will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in her name to the SPCA.
