Obituary

1936 – 2016 Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, February 1, 1936. Died peacefully, with family, in Arlington, Virginia September 14, 2016. Having received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and Master’s degree at Wayne State University. Moving to Detroit, Michigan to start a teaching career, Marilynn met her husband Rudolph DeGrood, and were married in June 1959 and moved to Sacramento in 1961. For over thirty years, Marilynn taught in the Sacramento Unified School District, primarily at Caleb Greenwood Elementary School with recognized specialties in drama, music and video. Marilynn also helped manage Uni-Sette, Inc., her husband’s recording company and assisted in the recording and production services for more than 50 years, including making recordings for the deaf. Rudy and Marilynn enjoyed boating, camping, and travel including to national and state parks, and international locales. Marilynn was pre-deceased by Rudy in May 2008, and is survived by her step-daughter, Carol Roman (Michael), and daughter, Cindy DeGrood Morrison (Peter); caring grandchildren Jeannette, Nicole and Alexis; and great-grandchildren Aubrey, Zachary, Aaron and Karlie Ann; a brother, James Langendorf (Patricia); the Rector Family; numerous extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held at Sierra Hills Memorial Park & East Lawn Mortuary at 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841 on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4-7pm. Funeral service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 4706 Arden Way, Carmichael, CA 95608 on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 12:00 pm, with light reception to follow. Interment private.
