Margaret Ann Means

Dec 11, 1939 - Sep 24, 2020

Margaret Ann Means, 80, quietly responded to God’s beckoning hand to come home early Thursday morning, September 24, 2020. Margaret led a very blessed life. She was a strong woman who faced every hardship with grace and dignity. And embraced every special life experience as a gift from God. She was a devout member of the catholic church who practiced what was preached.  Her heart and her spirit were welcoming and generous to all, and reached far beyond her family and friends. This capacity for empathy and compassion led to a long history of  volunteering and service to others.  Foremost in her life was a love and appreciation for her large family.  As matriarch of her family she had a strong desire to teach and hand down the traditions, values and family culture she grew up with.  Margaret was born on December 11, 1939, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, a beautiful daughter to Saint Julian and Elenora Bailey, and sister to Gene, Joyce, Louise, Eddie, and Saint Julian-Fatta.  She was a loving wife to Russell and 5 children: Angela and spouse Tony, Frank, Harold and spouse Laura, Vanessa and spouse John, and Malcolm and significant other Margaret. Precious to her were her 10 grandchildren: Gregory and spouse Angela, Alysia, Russell, Ellis, Bryce, Brenden and spouse Alyssa, Brianna, Tristan, Bailey, and Gabrielle, and 8 great grandchildren: Dejonte, Kiejaun, Marcus, Jadah, Ge’Niah, Amiyah, Damion, and Xavier. Margaret will be missed but never forgotten in the lives of those she touched. A celebration of life will be held at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane Sacramento, CA 95841, on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m – 12 p.m with a proceeding viewing at 12 p.m – 1:30 p.m. In addition, a short Catholic service will be in the Chapel at the same location on Monday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m – 11 a.m.
