Linda Elaine Patterson, long time resident of Sacramento, entered into eternal rest on September 12, 2011. Linda was born in Red Bluff, CA on February 22, 1944. She went to school at Mercy Parochial School in Red Bluff until 1952, when the family moved to Chico, CA. Linda then attended Notre Dame School and graduated from Chico Senior High.
Linda spent most of her adult life in Sacramento where she met many wonderful friends at work, TOPS, bowling and writing class. She retired from the State of California after a 29 year career there.
Linda loved meeting with her friends at writing club and compiled a series of short stories about her life growing up in Chico and living in Sacramento with her husband and family. She also enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling with Pat throughout their 26 year marriage. She wrote in her book that “I feel lucky to have been blessed with a loving, romantic husband”.
She is pre-deceased by her husband William (Pat) Patterson, her mother, Naidenne Akerson, and her sister, Cynthia Estes.
Linda is survived by her father Edwin C. Akerson and three brothers, Russell, Edwin and James Akerson, and two daughters Kelly Nimmo and Heidi Mora. She has 9 grandchildren: David, Michael, Kaylee and Kelsee; Lucas, Megan, Ashley, Kyler and Carmen.
Linda was an incredibly strong, intelligent and loving woman who will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass for Linda will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove Florin Road, in Elk Grove CA (916) 685-3681. A reception will directly follow the Mass in the church social hall.
The family has requested that donations be made in Linda’s name to local Hospice organizations or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
