Lenore Anne Marlink

May 6, 1930 - Dec 8, 2012

On December 8, 2012, at the age of 82, surrounded by her family, Lenore was freed from the prison of Alzheimer’s and welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.

Lenore was born on May 6, 1930, in Byron Center, Michigan, and it was in that same state where she met Earl, the love of her life.

Lenore was a gifted artist, both as a pianist and painter in oils. Her love of nature and especially of Hawaii often found their way into her painting and into her travels with family.

For much of her life she was a teacher, first as an elementary school teacher, then as a partner in ministry with Earl, and also as a source of wisdom and wit for her daughters.

Lenore is survived by her husband, Earl, who loved her passionately for over 60 years and cared for her faithfully during her battle with Alzheimer’s. Also surviving Lenore are her daughters, Jayne, Michelle, Alycia, Paula, and Laurel; and their families, including sons-in-law, Mike, Dennis, and Gary; grandchildren, Devon, Matt and Kaisie, Rob and Ako, David and Stacey, Ryan and Eric, Jen and J.B., Aubrey, Nathan, and Jared; and great-grandchildren, Eli, Charlotte, Arie, Evanee, Phoebe, and Chelsea; as well as her brother, Bernard, and her sister, Bonnie. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, John and Alyda Vander Ark, and her granddaughter, Amy.

A worship service in celebration of her eternal life will be held on December 16, 2012, at 2:00 PM at the Living Stones Church, 1390 Florin Road in Sacramento.

Our family and her church family miss her but are comforted by the words of her favorite Bible verse, Romans 8:28, a reminder that just as all things worked together for Lenore’s good, they will for all of us who serve the Lord.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Primrose Sacramento for the love and support they gave to Lenore and our family in the last phases of her life.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Lenore’s name may be made to: 1) Christian Reformed Home Missions, 2850 Kalamazoo SE, Grand Rapids, MI  49560-0001

What a beautiful tribute to a very special person. It sounds like Lenore loved life and left quite a legacy through her family and friends. May her family find peace and comfort and even laughter sharing memories past knowing she is in good hands.
