Obituary

Kern B. Williams (October 18, 1961 – April 1, 2017)

Kern was born in Oakland, California. He attended grade school in Oakland and went on to graduate from Napa High School in 1980. Kern moved to Sacramento and attended American River College while starting his first business. He was the owner of several businesses throughout his life (Mustang restoration and parts, firearms, real estate investment, and construction to name a few) and he had a very keen business sense. Although it seemed that Kern was busy working, he always had time to help a friend or stranger in need. He had the biggest heart! Kern truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with friends and family, and he just started on his goal to travel to different parts of the world. His most recent trip was Peru and he was planning to go to Costa Rica and Germany this year. He is survived by and deeply missed by his mother, Kay Powell and stepfather Troy Powell; his father Kent B. Williams; brother, Kregg Williams (Donna); brother, Kent Williams, Jr. (Linda); sister, Lisa Tucker (Tom); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a loving community of friends.

Dear Family and Friends of Kern, You have my deepest condolences. Kern was a wonderful friend to my family and me for over 30 years. We had fun times boating, camping, BBQ, Halloween parties, shooting, and so on. He repaired several of my cars at his shop over the years. I helped him gut one of his properties in Weimar. I enjoyed hearing about his travels and past adventures. He will be greatly missed. He was taken from us so suddenly and way too soon. Kern and all who care about him are in my prayers.

I guess the kind of friend Kern was can be summed up in a text exchange we had when we were getting close to an evacuation because of fire up in Foresthill, I asked him if he’d like some company. His reply was “you’re always welcome here”. He was like a brother to me and a good friend to my husband. We miss you!
