Longtime resident of Sacra- mento, Kenneth R. Wade, Jr, 64, passed away February 18th, after a short illness of Pancreatic Cancer.
Kenneth was born in Camden, New Jersey, February 25, 1949. His family moved to California in the early 50’s and settled in the Monterey Bay Area. Kenneth graduated from Carmel High School in 1967. He attended Monterey Peninsula College and San Jose State University. During his time at San Jose State he was a member of the Army ROTC program where he earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant in January 1972. He served in the Field Artillery as a parachutist, 101st Airborne, and later became an Army Helicopter pilot.
After his service in the Army, Kenneth moved to Sacramento and married Charlene (Young) Schelldorf. In 1982 he became a member of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, attaining the Rank of Sergeant. After retiring in 2006, Ken and Char spent many years traveling and enjoyed creating a beautiful home and life together.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; his mother, Doris Butch; daughters, Laura (Mark) Lanhart, Holly (Robert) Lynn; stepsons, Jeffery (Leslie) Schelldorf, James Schelldorf; brother Dave (Anne) Wade; sister Patti Wade; 8 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at 2pm on March 15 at Players on Fair Oaks Blvd. The family request any donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
