June Alma Stoecker

Passed away peacefully in Carmichael on July 11, 2012, at the age of 91. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Dean) Jones; her sons, Gary Stoecker and Paul Lowery; two grandchildren, Dean and Meredith Jones; brother Richard Morris; sister-in-law Ann Morris; and many cousins, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard ‘Bill’ Stoecker and brother Robert Morris. She was a native of Plymouth, CA and had resided in the Sacramento area all of her life. She was a 66-year member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. June loved to travel with her husband and friends. She was an avid reader, loved classic movies, and her many arts and crafts projects. As her children were growing up, she was active in the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Jobs Daughters, and was known as “The Nurse’ being put in charge of scrapes and bruises. June enjoyed nursing her entire life, including many years in doctor’s offices in Carmichael and also teaching at Bryman School for Medical Assistants. She was active in the Sacramento Camelia Symphony. June loved her friends unconditionally. She was very active in the Japanese community in Elk Grove from the time she was in grammar school, and throughout her entire life. As a Grandma, she was known as ‘Nannie’ to her grandchildren. She attended their many activities, from planning birthday parties, to softball games, graduations, basketball games, and track meets. They were the delight of her life. They will miss her greatly. Friends are welcome to East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sac., on Monday, July 16 for a visitation from Noon until time of Funeral Service at 2pm. Interment will be at East Lawn Sierra Hills.
