JOHNSON, Juanita Rae (Stevens)
Was born in Kankakee, Illinois, December 26, 1925 to Verona and Leland Stevens. She died May 31, 2014. Preceded in death by her sister Geraldine Reed, daughters Valerie Gene and Beverly Rae Johnson and niece Linda Carlson. Survived by husband of 68 years, World War II veteran Bert Johnson, sons Craig R. Johnson(Tammy), Alan L. Johnson, granddaughter Julia Verona Johnson (Greg Mayeur), great grandson Ryan Mayeur, nieces and nephews Kimberly Edwards, Daniel Reed (Ann), Douglas Reed, Cris Milani (Luigi), Yvonne Custer (Tom), Larry Schwartz (Marcia), Susie Lopez, Daryl Losee (Sherri) and Gloria Losee. Juanita lived for her family and was a Blue Bird leader, a Cub Scout leader, Den mother and Sunday school teacher. During the war she was a civilian employee for the Signal Corps inspecting radar and other electronics related to the war effort. She loved to sing, especially gospel and hymns, play the piano and guitar, draw and paint, and to be close to nature. She was simply the best wife, mother, grandmother and aunt anyone could hope for. She was always supportive and a source of counsel for her extended family. Thanks to Susan Kivi for her special care. In lieu of flowers or donations please hug your loved ones close! There will be no public funeral or memorial service.
