Johnny Monroy Inzunza

Johnny Inzunza, 86, passed away on August 7, 2012. Johnny grew up in Sutter Creek, CA. He graduated from Sutter Creek High School and was quarterback of the football team. Johnny was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific in 1945-1947. He was married to his wife, Phyllis Inzunza, in 1956 and was married for 56 years.
Johnny spent most of his working life as a miner in underground construction. He worked on major California water projects such as Folsom Dam and the California aqueduct. He moved to Saugus, CA, near Los Angeles, in 1971. Upon retiring from the construction industry, he worked as a maintenance custodian in junior high and high schools for 14 years and enjoyed interacting with students. He moved to Galt, CA in 1994, where he resided since.
Johnny enjoyed many activities with his son Richard Inzunza throughout his life. These activities included fishing, camping, attending motor racing and other sporting events. This involvement continued with his grand-daughter Shayna Inzunza. In his later years, he was active in Galt. He was a member of the Galt Senior Citizens Club and delivered Meals on Wheels. Johnny also enjoyed coin collecting and playing poker and pinochle with friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at East Lawn, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd. in Elk Grove. Burial will follow on Wednesday, August 15 at 12:30 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
