Joel Cordova was born to parents Salivar and Cleotilde in San Luis,Colorado. Joel was the third son of five of a very close knit family. He and his brothers remained close all through his life. After graduating from school he joined his brother Leroy in the bakery and has remained working in the baking industry. .
In 1983 Joel met Margery. Joel and Margery were fixed up by Kathy Cordova, who knew Margery from her visits to the bakery that she, Joel and Leroy worked in. Margery reluctantly agreed to go on “one date†with Joel…. and the rest is history. Getting Joel to propose was a piece of cake! It only took six years! They married in Maui, Hawaii in 1989 and remained best friends throughout their marriage.
One day early on, Margie wanted to get Joel’s attention; she began to say, “Babe†then changed it to “Joel†and it came out “Boâ€. That was the name they used for each other after that, and used it very fondly.
Margie and Joel loved to travel and explored many interesting places in this country and the world. Hawaii remained one of their favorite places to visit almost every year.
Joel is survived by his wife, Margery, brother Danny (wife Helen), brother Leonard, and brother Terry. He is survived by his beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of their families, and also his sisters and brothers-in-law. He leaves behind many wonderful friends and co-workers who already miss him.
A hui hoa, Joel.
Goodbye, until we meet again.
