Obituary

JoAnn Malissa Vasquez born in Roseville, CA was granted her angel wings on January 4th, 2017. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. JoAnn retired from California Department of Public Health with 33 years of state service. Her life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile and love of her family brought so much joy. Throughout her life and specifically during her battle with cancer, she gave us all such courage and hope reminding us of the preciousness of life. JoAnn truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; traveling with family, gardening, family gatherings, supporting her grandchildren at every sporting event or school function. JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Pete; her children, Aaron and his wife Heather, Kathy and her husband Alfonso, Malissa and her husband Eric, Daniel and his girlfriend Jhynelle; her mother Sydney; her father, Howard; stepmother, Cathy; Sister Roxanne; step sister, Sabrena; and her seven grandchildren.
Preceded by her brother Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 21st at Bayside Church of Citrus Heights located at 6540 Sylvan Rd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610. Family and friends are welcomed to join the celebration of life immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers please help others by donating to charities that assist cancer patients.

My sincere condolences to JoAnn’s family. I met JoAnn in 2015 at WIC. She was absolutely a great woman, kind and always giving. With sadness she departed this earth but has entered eternal life. JoAnn has earned her wings. May she rest in peace. God bless and comfort her family during these difficult times.

  • Mike Salanoa says:

God bless the Vasquez family! I met Joann through her husband Pete aka Pete-ster the prankster, when we worked together at HCD. Joann, was a beautiful lady inside and out and Pete always would talk about how lucky he was marrying her. Via con dios de familia Vasquez.

  • María Galvan says:

JoAnn Vasquez, a woman of peace and goodness, an angel on this earth and now in Heaven. Just read the announcement so not able to attend her service, but know it was as lovely as she and her dear family. Rest in peace, you are missed but never forgotten. A wonderful boss beyond all others. Love and Prayers to JoAnn and to all her family.
