Joan Meckfessel Teuscher

Mar 19, 1924 - Aug 29, 2016

Joan Meckfessel Teuscher died peacefully in her sleep on August 29, 2016 while under the care of the staff at Asbury Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center here in Sacramento. She was 92. She lived for more than sixty years at her home in the Land Park area of Sacramento – a home that she shared with her late husband, John “Jack” Teuscher. Born March 19, 1924 in Arbuckle, CA, Joan grew up with her brother, George G. Meckfessel, the children of George and Fern Cain Meckfessel who owned and worked a wheat farm there. Both her parents and her brother preceded her in death and Joan is survived by a nephew, George Richard Meckfessel, of Needles, CA.
For most of her adult life, Joan worked as a Personnel Analyst for the state of California. She was an active member of Centennial United Methodist Church in which she taught Sunday School classes, participated in United Methodist Women’s Circles, and for a time directed the church’s bell choir. For 62 years she was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, an international women’s social, cultural and service organization.
A memorial service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Centennial United Methodist Church, 5401 Freeport Boulevard, Sacramento on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 3:00 PM. She has been laid to rest next to her beloved husband at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento. Should anyone wish to make a gift in Joan’s memory, please send it to the Centennial United Methodist Church, 5401 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95822 – (916) 452-4477
Joan loved her music – enjoying many concerts at the Sacramento Symphony, the Choral Society and Orchestra, as well as shows at the Music Circus. She loved her cats. She loved her church. But she loved all of her friends even more.
