Janice Elise Hall

Aug 19, 1936 - Dec 8, 2012

Hall, Janice Elise (Fielder)

Janice Hall, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, entered in rest in Sacramento, California, on December 8, 2012 after a long struggle with numerous ailments. Her passing, albeit difficult for family, was welcomed with her resting in the salvation in Jesus Christ.   Survived by her sons Stephen Holtz, Layne Holtz, Randall Holtz, grandchildren Stephanie, Kayla, Layne Jr, Jake and Eric and her step-children Tracy Hall, Cory Hall, Tara Anderson and their step-grandchildren Connor Anderson, Mitchell Anderson and Julian Dietrich. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Fielder, sister Suzanne Billings and loving and faithful husband, Kenneth Hall.

Janice was born in 1936, in Roanoke, Louisiana to John and Margaret Fielder. She grew up in Texas, with her brother, Robert and sister, Susan. In 1954, she fell in love with a handsome sailor named Robert W. (Bill) Holtz in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sacramento, California became home to raise their family from 1954 to 1972. In 1980, Jan married Ken (her “Fubsie Dinkums”). They traveled the world from Saudi Arabia and Egypt, to the Caribbean. When they finally settled back in the U.S., they lived in Texas, Missouri, Kansas and Georgia. Janice lost Ken in 2009 and she moved back to California in 2011.

Jan was a remarkable person with a boundless capacity for love, compassion, caring and humor. Ken shared her passion of antiques (mostly toys). Jan was a “collector” in the truest sense of the word. She simply could not throw away anything. So if there are Garage Sales in heaven, I sure hope God provides storage.

Throughout her life, she made many friends associated with her treasures but above all, Jan treasured time spent with family and friends. She made both feel warm and accepted. She treated her friends like ‘family’ and even though her friends were important, her children and grandchildren were the only beneficiaries of the softest hugs and kisses in the world. She loved to listen and provide comfort in the difficult times. Her consoling ‘southern’ tone was always enough to remedy an aching heart. Those who knew Jan will miss her smile, her spirit, and her laughter. Thank you, Jan, we will miss you always, but never be far from you.

A Very Special THANK YOU to our dear family friend, Lily Schwartz for all the love and care she unselfishly provided to Janice over the last year.

Family and friends are invited to the memorial service on Thursday, December 27 at 3:00 p.m. Services will be held at Warehouse Christian Ministries, 9933 Business Park Drive, Sacramento 95827.
