James Alcus Terry

James Alcus Terry, Jr., 91 years old, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, April 10, 2012, in his son David’s home in San Diego California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann. He was born to James Alcus Terry Sr. and Eva Eugenia Terry (Grantham) in Foxworth, Mississippi on July 6, 1920. His early life was spent on ranches around the San Joaquin River area near Fresno, Ca. Siblings included Vernon B. Terry, Connie A. “Bill” Terry, Virginia Terry, Basil R. Terry, Mabel Terry and Frederick B. Terry. He joined the military serving with the 10th Marine Artillery Regiment, 2nd Division, USMC and was honorably discharged May 25, 1943. A devoted husband of 64 years, he married Ann Louise Martin of Omaha, Nebraska in Los Angeles, Ca. on September 27, 1944. Most of his career was spent working in the lumber industry in a number of different capacities. He was an employee of the Cal-Ida Lumber Co. of Auburn, Ca. for more than 20 years. He is survived by his two sisters, Virginia and Mabel; his two sons James and David, their wives, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grand children. He was a member of St Mark’s Lutheran Church. The last few days of his life he spoke often of his firm belief in Jesus Christ and admonished all of his loved ones to reestablish their relationship with God.
