Obituary

Age 91, Jim Hawkins gently passed way on January 18th, surrounded by loving family members. Born 10/20/1921 in Neb, one of six children. He wed his teenage sweetheart, Adella Hoeschen in June, 1945. They were married fifty-nine years until Adella’s death in 2004.

In 1942, Jim enlisted in the Marines and served in the South Pacific where he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the Battle of Pelelui. Jim enjoyed a 40+ yr career with United Air Lines and he traveled the world with family and friends. He was a competitive bowler and served as Pres. of the American Bowling Congress. Jim was a lifelong fan of the St Louis Cardinals. It was fitting that he and his hero, Stan Musial, died one day apart.
Jim is survived by his children, their spouses, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his brother Ted, and a plethora of nieces, nephews and loving friends.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Sat., April 27th at 10:00 a.m., at the East Lawn Mortuary in Elk Grove, CA. Reception and celebration of life will follow.
