Jack Alan Wipf

Feb 8, 1943 - Oct 20, 2017

Jack Alan Wipf, passed away at home on Friday, October 20, 2017 in Sacramento, CA. Jack was born February 8th, 1943 to Larry and Wanda (Davies) Wipf in Sacramento. On June 23, 1979 he married Regina Bequette in Lake Tahoe California. Jack enjoyed a multitude of home improvement activities, technology and drives with his wife to Fort Brag California. Jack was also a devoted animal lover, adopting and raising many parrots, macaws and other birds, a cat and 3 dogs.

Jack graduated from Sacramento High School in 1961 and was a bus driver for the Sacramento Transit Authority in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. He expanded his skill of driving large buses when he started working for Continental Trailways in the early 1970’s, routinely driving from either Sacramento or San Francisco to Reno NV. During this time, Jack participated in many “truck rodeos” with truck drivers that he met over CB radio. Jack routinely outscored his truck driving friends on the course. During his layovers in Reno, he became a great bowler at the MGM Grand Hotel, where he met his wife, Regina. When Trailways went out of business, Jack started working for the city of Sacramento, solid waste division where he ultimately retired as a supervisor in charge of the cities GIS system.

Survivors include his wife Regina; his son Mychal and wife Rebecca Wipf of Spring TX and 3 grandchildren Dylan, Adam and Sarah, all of Denver CO. He is also survived by two brothers; Richard and wife Kim Wipf of Overland Park KS, and Brian Wipf of Sacramento; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, mother and father-in-law; and sister-in-law.

Per Jack’s request, there will be no funeral. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery in East Sacramento which will be privately attended by close family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to:

Our condolences to Regina and Mychal, and Denny, Kim, and Brian. Jack was a good man always striving to do the best. He could tell a story, or give advice always with a smile. I remember the drives up the hill in the Honda to Blue Canyon like they were yesterday. God speed Jack Wipf.
