Obituary

Stormy was taken from us too quickly January 27, after a busy day. Stormy was born to Michael Herman Schauer and Agnes Staple Schauer February 8, 1932 in San Francisco. At his mother’s death in 1935, he was placed in an orphanage in San Francisco. He lived with the Siefelts on their small farm until he graduated from Analy High School in 1950 at which time he joined the Air Force. After a short time as a clerk, he became a cadet and was commissioned. He had become a navigator and soon became an instructor. He had a varied career in the Air Force: instructor, navigator on reconnaissance flights from Japan for 2 ½ years, Bootstrap student in Omaha, Operations Officer in 308th Strategic Missile Wing, Little Rock. He was stationed at Mather in Sacramento, Texas, Little Rock, Yokoto in Japan, and for a short time in Indonesia. After his retirement in 1970 he returned to Sacramento to attend Sacramento State to get a teaching credential. He then began his second 20 years career as a high school teacher at Grant High School in the Grant District where he met his wife, his companion for 29 years and then in 20 they married. Then he enjoyed telling about their wedding which had to be changed to Roseville Sutter Hospital. He became the first and only male member of the South Placer branch of the American Association of University Women as soon as the rules allowed males to join. He enjoyed many things: golf, cooking (especially making Pies), gin rummy, travel, his family, 49’ers, Giants, UC Bears, friends he had met in SIRS Carmichael, and the Parkinson Support Group of Roseville. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Rowland, children Eric Schauer, Anchorage, Alaska; Lorrie O’Neill (Matthew), Troutville, Oregon; stepsons, Randolph Rowland (Nancy) Auburn; Craig Rowland, Auburn; Jeffrey Rowland (Toni), Granite Bay. Granchildren: Ember Nagle, Neil Rowland, Claire Rowland, Auburn; Carrli Collins (Austin), Capitola, CA; Sadie Rowland, Orangevale, and Great-Grandchildren, Madisyn, Jonah, Maelynn, Aiden and Evan. We will miss him every day. He enjoyed the care and companionship of all his caregivers from Bright Star. Friends are invited to a viewing on his birthday, February 8, 3:00PM to 7:00PM, at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, California. A service and celebration of his life will be held in early March. Please visit www.eastlawn.com for details.
