PONATH, Hedy Radke
Was born June 15, 1922, in American Falls, Idaho and passed away peacefully on July 21, 2011. Being the 6th child of 7 siblings, she enjoyed her family as the years went by. She was a long time resident of Sacramento, California and worked at McClellan AFB as a dental assistant and later as a flight scheduler for the US Air Force. Hedy was featured in many newspaper articles and advertisements because of her beauty and poise. She was a very giving and supportive woman, caring for her mother for many years and her sisters, nieces and nephews whenever they needed her help. She also hosted many family gatherings at her home which was so much fun for the whole family. You could always spot Hedy around town in her 1956 T-Bird and she was a member of the T-Bird Club. Hedy is survived by her brother, Gerhard (Barbara) Radke, her sister, Margaret Loney, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lieutenant Luther A. Ponath, her parents, Robert and Rosina (Sandau) Radke, and her sisters and their spouses, Sophia (Hugo) Maassen, Theresa (Merle) Wilcox, Elfrieda (George) Lambert, Marie (Vaughn) Plimpton, her brother-in-law, John Loney and her companion of many years, Roy Prdavica. There will be a graveside service at East Lawn Cemetary, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, on Saturday, August 20, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org – under “Donate” and ‘Tributes.’ Or you can mail your donation to Alzheimer’s Association , P.O.
