OLIPHANT, Gyretha ‘Gay’
Passed away peacefully, November 30, 2011, at the age of 102. Gyretha was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James E. Oliphant D.C. She is survived by her 5 children, James Gary Oliphant, Robert Girard Oliphant, Richard Erwin Oliphant, Michael Edward Oliphant, and Maleta Margaret Forsyth; 9 grandchildren, Adria, Dedra, Lisa, Jay, Eric, Denise, Karyn, RaeAnna, and Ryan; 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gyretha was born in Marysville, California on October 11, 1909. She was a successful business woman, entrepreneur, and served as Grand Deputy for Eastern Star. She was a member of the Lauralane Chapter and the Sisters of the Nile for many years. She was a strong and remarkable woman and will be remembered and loved for her quick wit, keen business sense, feisty spirit, dancing at family functions, and her always perfectly painted long red fingernails. She touched the lives of many and was a true inspiration. She will be greatly missed. Visitation at Andrews and Greilich Mortuary Mon., Dec. 5, 2011, 5-8 pm. Celebration of her life, East Lawn Memorial Park, Tues., Dec. 6, 2011, 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
